It looked good, read the reviews and people seemed to love it but all the pictures I saw gave me the idea this bag was HUGE and I did not want a "huge" bag, just something that would fit a camera body, 3 lenses, speedlight and extras. So I bought it anyway from lack of other options...
Turns out this bag was smaller than I thought, but bigger than my previous bag. Noticably bigger. I could easily fit in everything I had with room to spare! I was very pleased with it. The straps are thick and sturdy along with the bag itself. Not sure about waterproofing, I wasn't going to leave it outside during a Houston tropical storm to find out.
My only gripe is the metal clips on the front pockets, they are hard to undo (I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and fingers) so I just leave them unclipped and it's fine. Certainly not enough to dock them a star. Bag itself is very hardy and from what other have said, will last a lifetime and I believe it. The compartments are snug and well-padded, I can just "drop" my lenses into the compartments and know they will be fine.
For me, this bag is the perfect size I was looking for (about the size of a backpack) and will probably be the last camera bag I own. Very pleased with it after a few months and would highly recommend.
It looks and feels well made. Good thick canvas means it should last a long time but is a little heavier than my A&A bag. It takes two cameras (mirrorless or film SLRs) with lenses attached plus two lenses in the main compartment and the side pockets take a flash or sandwhiches. Or I can take a Hassy plus a lens or two and spare backs and viewfinders. Two more front pockets for filters, phone, odds and ends. Rear pocket easily takes an iPad and a magazine or (thin) book. The strap is good and as it goes all the way around the bag, there is no worry of it breaking. The bag does stick nicely to the hips without too much swaying around.
What I dont like:-
The metal clasps for fastening the top down.
The top flap is just a little bit too wide and the straps have to lift around it, scrunching it up as they come from inside the flap.
The hand strap is a good idea but as the fastening for them to attach to, is also on the inside of the flap, the strap has to come out from under the flap and again scrunches up the top.
All in all; I will stick to my cheap canvas messenger bag when travelling as it all folds into itself and takes up little room when I store it in my suitcase (camera and lenses go with me in my photo backpack which also holds my work computer) and my A&A bag when going out photographing from home.
