I am surprised by the efficiency of this scrapper. I'd tried others and thought they worked as expected until I saw a couple of references to this in reviews of paint stripper. I'm in the early stages of scraping 100+ years of paint off the exterior of my home, with earlier layers being lead based. I've used protective measures and equipment in the past to scrape off flaking paint. Then too soon after having other spots start flaking. At my current age, I can still physically do this work, but know that my future ability will be limited. Rather than having to pay someone to scrape and paint every few years, I have chosen to do it myself now and avoid the need for regular maintenance later.
It's a big job and will take most of a year to finish. I doubt I would continue without this scraper. One recommendation would be to buy extra blades. The picture shows the difference a new blade makes. Above and to the left of the window, the white area shows original layer(s) of white paint left after an application of stripper and scraping. The lower bare wood on that same side was done with a new blade. I'd thought the stripper wasn't working as well because the temperature had dropped to the bottom of the recommended range.
