The Y-blade version is great for large vegetables like potatoes. If you want to peel thinner veggies, like carrots, Kyocera has another version. I have both.
I have had different Kyocera peelers for at least 15 years. Eventually the plastic that holds the blade gets old and cracks. My peelers last around a decade before that happens. You can expect to use this for a long time. Enjoy.
The ceramic blade will stay very sharp for a year or more, even under daily use. Even after the edge wears down some, it still performs well, just not quite tomato-peeling well.
