This antenna got a three star rating because it does not turn far enough for the pins to pop up into the slots locking position. Be careful because I put just a little more force while turning it, because I did not want it to keep popping off. The Uniden BCD346HP scanner was damaged (the internal antenna connection broke while attempting to lock it in place). I had to send the scanner to Uniden for repairs. They did NOT warranty it either. I had to pay to get my scanner back. So, beware!!!!
Using a older tabletop scanner with a center load antenna. I recently moved about an hour away from the big city I lived near. I use it mostly to get weather now (have to reprogram eventually) but that wasn’t even happening on a cloudy day. I put this antenna on and it pulls in the NOAA signal perfectly. Be interesting to see what else I can get. For once I feel like I wasn’t ripped off!

While a tad on the expensive size, the antenna does appear to have superior build quality to the antenna that was included with my radio as well as to those $12-15 replacements available online.
I bought this to replace the antenna that came with my Uniden BCD996XT after one of the internal links failed. It works well as an indoor wideband antenna. I'm listening to VHF, UHF and 800MHz successfully with this antenna fully extended. I have not investigated whether the antenna performs substantially better when extended to the specific lengths for specific frequencies.
Obviously, there are numerous factors involved with reception beyond the antenna itself - locality, frequencies, environment, antenna placement, etc. Also, a wideband antenna will never perform as well at any given frequency as one that is designed for that frequency. So don't expect miracles in reception from any wideband antenna replacement, but this one does perform well within what is possible for it's size and intentions.
3.0 颗星,最多 5 颗星BCD436HP, updates (2) about the double joints

This antenna did improve my reception of a few frequencies. Not sure about the markings on it that allegedly tell you what length pulls in which, however, due to its extreme length, weird double joint, and iffy lock in fitting on my BCD436HP, it's very easy to damage the permanent fitting on the scanner.
At full extension with both joints straight it does wobble, especially at the first joint closest to the scanner., and very difficult to get it to stay straight. Probably best for a desktop home base as opposed to a portable. The double joint does allow for the scanner to be laid down with the antenna at aright angle, yet one joint would also make that possible.
Update 1:
I found a way to solve double joint thing. Bend the first joint (the lower one) at a right angle, for my scanner, bending to the right toward the top control know for stability, then bend the second joint at a right angle straight up. Once I stopped trying to get the antenna to stay straight with both joints up and tried this, it's solid. No more wobble, not more frustration.
Update 2:
Despite success with he double right-angle method in my first update, it's no use. This antenna is not practical for portable units. Even when it behaves and stands up straight, it makes the scanner top heavy.
I recommend for base units or portables that lay flat on a table etc.
