First off this listing was super confusing. This states its only compataible with the TX wheel for Xbox one which is untrue. I purchased to use with my TMX pro and it worked right out of the box. Assembly is virtually non existent you just screw the shift knob on. I am using this product with the freewheeler racing seat. When this clamped down after time it would want to fall off. I am a carpenter and so this led me to order a universal center console off ebay and frame and upholster support for the shifter and to rest elbow down when driving. Super comfortable setup if your capable of building it. This product works great now I just need to master my drift skills in forza horizon because I am terrible.

I purchased this pedal because it was supposed to be compatible with my TMX Pro wheel... I thought if I went with the TH8A over the Fanatec or Logitech shifters, I would be able to save myself a USB slot by plugging it into the wheel... Nope, I was wrong! Nowhere in the marketing materials was this ever disclosed when buying the product.
The first issue is that it requires a USB connection when using it with the PC! This isn’t the worst problem, the worst problem is that it has a requirement of USB 2.0 and as luck would have it, my $450 main board didn’t go cheap on the USB ports, so lucky me, I don’t have any USB 2 ports!!! To me, it’s ridiculous to require USB 2 when USB 3 has been out longer than the shifter!!!
It is good build material and that’s about the most positive thing I can say about it as there are several growing pains trying to integrate this into your setup!
The next issue is that the calibration tool wouldn’t tell me what I was supposed to do next, wouldn’t complete some steps without repeating the gesture of going back to neutral and then back in to gear, and it would almost never complete the fine tuning stage let alone apply the settings. Well, it turns out you have to move the green lines in the fine tuning and nowhere in the app did it tell me this! Nope, I had to go download the calibration guide for something that could have been explained with a pop up dialog box.
This brings me to my next issue... Assetto Corsa, allowed me to configure the shifter after the one time I got it to finish calibrating, but then reverse just decided it wasn’t going to work in the game and I got stuck in a spot where I couldn’t back it out. This is kind of a pain, but it turns out this is an AC issue, as they like to turn on auto shifting by default (Control+G in game on the PC will turn this off).
I’m just over this shifter and I’m about done with thrustmaster! Seriously, why is it that the most customizable platform (PC) on the planet is forced to use USB, when the Xbox One is running a version of Windows 10 and never has an issue with using the designated shifting cable attached to the wheel.
So, I’ve softened my position a little bit on the shifter, it’s now working in Corsa, and I figured out some of the other issues, but the growing pains are real with this product and it just shouldn’t take this much work just to add a shifter to this setup. Also, I’m still disappointed in the fact that you have to use USB on the PC and I think having force feedback for missed shifts and grinding gears in the pedal would have been a great feature.

Price Increase Over 25% - Previously Cost Below $150; Great Product But Not For $200!

I purchased this gear shifter in 2019 and used it for 28 days before returning it. I had tried the cheaper Logitech Shifter, which was decent for the price, but the quality of this Thrustmaster is far superior to the plastic Logitech Shifter. Back then the Logitech was about $45, and this Thrustmaster was $150. So, a higher build quality is no surprise. I was very happy with this Thrustmaster, my only complaint with it's use being the lack of resistance when shifting. I mostly used it for playing Euro/American Truck Simulator, and it was superior to the Logitech in situations where you use different gear boxes with a larger number of gears. It's ability to change the plate and become a + and - shifter for racing is cool.
In fact, I liked it so much that after seeing that Thrustmaster has a new Driving Wheel I came back, thinking I might purchase it. When I saw it selling for $200, I thought that it must be a 3rd Party Seller. That maybe it had been discontinued, and is no longer easily available so the price increased. Not so.
In 2018 this exact product, with no differences in model, was as low as $110 at one point. That is the price I would say this gear shifter is worth. $150 was a stretch, but since it is well made and customizable that seems a fair MSRP. Anything above that is madness, and to increase the price as the product increases in age is illogical. There may be manufacturing reasons, but that is not our concern.
If your decision is between the Logitech I mentioned and this, go with the Logitech. You really won't lose much in immersion, in fact the Logitech feels more like a shifter in a cheap car. Or, find another product that hits a middle ground. This Thrustmaster product is really solid, but just extremely overpriced for the time being. Just like a lot of electronics since 2020...
So I give it 3 Stars, out of what would be 5 Stars if the price was around $110. One removed for price gouging. Another for failing over these past 3 years to stop the steady trend of this shifter costing more. Just look at The Camelizer.
