Opened the package, popped the ink cartridge in, gave a little squeeze to wet the feed and started writing. The nib (M) writes very smoothly with no skipping or hard starts* (see edit). Yes, it’s a plastic pen, but it easily fits in a pocket, and consistently writes quickly and smoothly. Some day I’ll buy the brass one, but not until I’ve gotten lots of use out of this one! The dark green and gold combination looks really nice, by the way.
*Edit: After a week or so of use, I noticed that after the ink cartridge has been in the pen for several days, the hard starts that others have mentioned started happening. In fact, if it is uncapped for taking notes, for example, any pause in writing longer than 10 seconds or so results in a hard start. Sometimes it requires more pressure than I care to put on a pen nib to get it restarted. This is the first pen I've used that does this. The Kaweco Lilliput, for example, does not seem to have this problem. Sadly, I am returning it.
