Wow, UNIDEN! I'm actually shocked you'd put your name on this!

I was given my first scanner- a UNIDEN Bearcat 4 Electra for my 16th birthday in 1975; I've used them even since, including my early 2020 Christmas present from my wife Robin: the UNIDEN SDS200 Scanner (Retailed at $700). Well- I THOUGHT a extension speaker would be in order for the '19 Ranger (where my sds200 spends 35% of it's time perched on the custom made platform I finished just last night)

The package arrived on time and the outside of the package appeared in good condition; (I'm playing catch-up on my Amazon reviews- sorry) The first thing I noticed was the UNIDEN decal— it was not only bunched up and looked in rough shape— it was UPSIDE DOWN!!! I noticed no other viable damage to the unit at tha I could see; I attached it to my SDS200, and wasn't impressed. It sounded "tintey" and had - for lack of a better description - a plastic- like "echo" to it also.

Since I didn't pay a exhorbant price for it - I took the unit apart and packed it with a small amount of sound reflection padding I use in building the paranormal equipment I both build and use which made it acceptable. I know this voided the warranty, so I didn't ask for any money back; I'm just surprised at UNIDEN for putting something like this out there, especially with the UNIDEN name on it - upside-down as it was.

The BC-7 speaker is a 3 inch by 3 inch speaker. It's smaller than the other Uniden speakers the BC15,BC20 and BC23A that are 4" X 4" speakers. It has good sound for a communications speaker and the 3x3 inch size is perfect for packing into the woods.
It comes with a mounting bracket to attach it for mobile use.
The BC-7 requires no additional power and works very well with any radio I've tried it on. Good clear crisp audio.
The BC-7 speaker is nice and clear, I sometimes use it with my BCD-536HP scanner or a portable ham transceiver I take camping. I've used it with my Whistler TRX-2 and it works quite well with it too.
Not much to say except it appears durable and robust, good clear sound, small for backpacking into the woods. I think it's a good buy.

I use for an auxilliary speaker for my Cobra 29 CB. It is much easier to hear than the built in speaker, but it still has a bit of muffling and distortion. It is certainly a cheaper speaker inside the casing, but it works alright. If they went for a slightly better speaker to use, this would be a perfect 5 star piece. I'm very happy with it. I would still highly recommend this for the price. Cord seems fairly durable. Casing is very durable, I have beat mine up pretty roughly over the last several months of use, and it held up great. If the sound quality was a bit better, I'd happily give this 5 stars, but better sound quality is the main reason I bought it.

I purchased Uniden BC7 specifically for the Uniden BC125AT scanner, the speaker is very low volume when matched with the BC125AT thus wouldn't recommend it for this scanner. I ended up using a small amplified computer speakers that draws its power from USB.

I used the BC7 on a couple of Ham radios and it worked ok better than with the BC125AT but found it worked better for the CB. It's an inexpensive speaker, don't expect it to perform wonders, not suitable in noisy environments with some radios.

Ok, but great for the price

It is just a basic little speaker. I did a comparison between it and an MFJ 281 ClearTone speaker which is just a few bucks more. The comparison was done in my shack with a dual band Kenwood TM-D710G with NOAA weather on both bands. That way I could just change the volume for each side back and forth to compare the speakers. The BC-7 was not as clear as the MFJ 281. However, for $12 and PRIME, it is a good deal to get a small speaker that will fit anywhere. It works as good or better than the built in speaker of mobile radios. Having a speaker pointed directly at you should work better than the radios's speaker pointed up or down thereby improving clarity.
