This may not be the comparison you are looking for but for those who have purchased increasingly more expensive moderately priced binoculars over the years and are wondering whether its worth the money to "upgrade" to the Razor HD you may find this useful. I compared the Razor HD 10X50 to the following sets of binoculars: Redfield 10X50 (80s vintage); Leupold North Fork 10.5X45; Leupold Wind River Cascade 10X42; and the Vortex Diamondback HD 10X42.
Eye relief was satisfactory for all binoculars (the Redfields were designed for persons that do not wear glasses). The focus knobs on the Vortex binoculars are easier to adjust than the Leupolds and about the same as the Redfields.
Image clarity at near distances (up to 500 yards) during the day (10:00 AM looking northeast) is about the same for all the binoculars. However, the Razor does have brighter image but I'm not sure this matters at less than 500 yards during the day.
Image quality at 500 to 2000 yards during the day: no significant differences.
Image quality at 500 to 2000 yards during dusk and dawn: I have not made this comparison in the field (trying to find game) but, in general, the Razors provide a brighter image in low light time periods than the other binoculars.
Image clarity during the day of communication antenna towers at 4.2 miles is better with the Razor HDs than all the other binoculars. The image is brighter and there is more clarity in darker colored areas from 3 miles to 4.2 miles where the towers are located.
Image clarity at long distances (same as above) in early morning and evening low light time periods: noticeably better with the Razor's than with the other binoculars. Images are brighter.
Bottom line: The Razors are better binoculars than the other binoculars that I compared. Are they significantly better (is it like night and day)? No. If you are a hunter, will they substantially improve your hunting season? Not likely. Would you recommend them to other hunters? I would say that you can get a decent set of binoculars that will do the job for far less, so if you can't really afford them, buy the less expensive binoculars and you'll be fine. If you are ready for the optics upgrade that you promised yourself or you only want to buy one pair of binoculars, then I would recommend buying these Razor HDs, you will be satisfied. Will your wife be able to tell the difference between your old binoculars and the Razors? Your wife won't find value in the difference but your son will. Am I sending them back? No.
