One of the main benefits of a carbon steel pan is that it moves seamlessly between the stovetop and the oven. The Lodge handle holder negates this benefit. While the oven is where the handle really gets hot, it is also where the silicone handle holder fails. The silicone gets too hot to hold and requires ... a pot holder.
In a sense, the wonderfully tight fit defeats the purpose. I should be able to easily slide off the holder when I put my pan in the oven, but removing the holder is, well, not effortless.
This pan holder is a perfect fit for the handle, but not for the pan's use.
