I was surprised to see that Amazon makes cables. They made these cables. They're surprizingly well made. They don't look like any other Toslink cables. Usually Toslink (named after Toshiba) cables look a lot like weed wacker line. Except black. These are thicker & soft & squishier. Toslink (sometimes called "Lightpipe") cables are meant to shoot a lazer beam inside as a carrier wave, that carries audio, video or both. That said, they have some type of "glass" inside to keep reflecting the light beam along without impeding the signal. These usually have fiberglass inside. Fiberglass can break. More easily than you think. You can't smack them around or step on them or bend them sharply. The Amazon cables are much thicker & softer than the old style. They're much nicer to work with too. Easier to hold on to. Easier to keep track of in a pile of wires (as can be the case in a recording studio). These are much tougher than the others too. They're just not as delicate. The ends on them are also very nice. Easy to grab a hold of & to plug & unplug. That in itself makes them worth it. Trying reach up or down into & through a rats nest of cables & plug a cable into a small socket you can barily see (or not see at all) WILL crush a recording session, band practice or gig, faster than you can say, "Uncle Eddie's extra ornry jammies". These are a breeze to unplug or plug in. Far easier for my big, giant, guitar stranglin, key jing janglin meat hooks to deal with.

I recently purchased the Amazon Basics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable for my soundbar and TV setup and I have to say, I'm very impressed with the quality of this cable.

Firstly, the 3.3 feet length is perfect for my setup and provides just the right amount of flexibility without leaving any unnecessary slack. The connectors fit securely into both my TV and soundbar, and the cable itself is well constructed and durable.

But most importantly, the audio quality is superb. I was previously using a cheaper optical cable and noticed a significant improvement in sound clarity and overall quality after upgrading to this Amazon Basics cable. It's amazing how much of a difference a high-quality cable can make!

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase of the Amazon Basics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable. It's a great value for the price and has exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and performance. I highly recommend this cable to anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality optical audio cable.

I have become a fan of Amazon Basics products; especially when it comes to anything related to Electronics. I was searching for an optical audio Toslink an for my new amplifier system and all products in amazon were pretty pricey. I needed a longer cable and that made it worse. I found this AmazonBasics one it was perfect at the sub $10 price range. I took it from Amazon warehouse and it became even more cheaper. Trust me, I have never seen an issue with Warehouse items from Amazon.

Pros:
1. The cable has a very soft rubber sleeve and this makes the cable super flexible. So your chance of it breaking the optical core because of a bad twist is extremely low.
2. The prongs have nice little bulge at the points where you hold them while connecting. This helps to get a firm grip while inserting the prong into the TOSLINK slots of your devices.

Cons:
1. The sleeving rubber is of matte finish and works like a dust magnet. It becomes dust coated very soon and wiping the dust makes it even more uglier.
2. I prefer to keep my cables white which makes wire clutter look little neater. This cable comes only in black!

Got this as a hookup to an older TV (2010 Vizio) to a new Sony STR-DH590 because the older TV did not have the latest HDMI ARC outlet and noticed on both the TOSlink really does not 'snap' in or 'lock' in or have a locking feature when put in place, they just shove in and stop and guess we have to hope all is good. It does seem to work. Not really sure tbh as the audio worked just plugging the HDMI from the PC to the TV unit using a separate HDMI source. Then selecting TV on the A/V. I have my cable box going directly to the A/V unit and use the HDMI ARC out to the TV from there using the SAT/Cable selection. Thought the TOSlink would 'enhance' the audio but it's hard to tell any difference when just using the a direct HDMI.

Like I said, just slide over and buy now. No reason to add to the cart and give it any second thoughts. It’s the literal best deal on Amazon of its kind and I’ve been using it for like a year now and of course it works everyday like a charm.
