First brush over my legs and I almost fell over with how much dry and dead skin I had. I knew it was dry, but not THAT bad! (by the way - dry brush in your shower before your shower, otherwise you get the skin "dust" all over the place!) I used the brush from foot to shoulder, then showered and was amazed at what a different feel it was when I soaped my skin. Completely smooth and some bumps I have on my thighs and upper arms were already disappearing. It's a bit of a stiff/strong bristle, so be ready for that and brush lightly. I found my calves and shins to like the feel, as well as my arms, but my thighs and hips are pretty sensitive to it as they are less "taut."
The first body brush I used was the EcoTools Dry Body Brush ($4.99 from Target). Because its bristles are synthetic, and I wanted to try a brush with "natural" bristles, I splurged on the Aromatherapy body brush. I've found that the Aromatherapy brush's bristles (made of sisal) are much firmer, and so they don't bend much when being pressed into/brushed over the skin. (The EcoTools Dry Body Brush is firm, but its bristles are more flexible, so they don't scratch the skin quite as harshly.) I absolutely can't use the Aromatherapy brush on my calves/shins because the skin is so thin/taught there. It's less scratchy on thicker areas like thighs, butt, etc.
I'm going to keep trying with the Aromatherapy brush by only using it in places it doesn't hurt. Maybe it will relax over time? If not, I'll happily return to my EcoTools brush.
