These shears are ideal to cut materials made from aramid and para-aramid fibers such as Kevlar, Dyneema, Vectran, Spectra, Technora, Nomex, Innegra, Dacron and other materials made from fiberglass and carbon fiber in rope, ribbon, thread, tape and fabric form. Its blades are made of high carbon alloy steel from Japan and are infused with Molybdenum and Vanadium (HRC 60~62) through a proprietary manufacturing process to achieve a level of hardness (HV1200) to cut high tech material. It can be used to cut materials made from carbon fiber, glass fiber, plastic, canvas, vinyl, leather, suede, leatherette, nylon, silk, cotton, for upholstery, headliner, cloth, string or other knitted forms.
The cutting performance is great across the length of the blade. Quick and accurate trimming can be done with sharp edges. They can also be used to make relief cuts during the lay-up process to fit the reinforcement into the mold. Cut hanging fibers along the cutting edge of the fabric cleanly. Cut fiber thread off the fiber optic cable neatly to install connectors. Also used for splicing all type of halyards, sheets, topping lifts, lazyjacks and control lines.

If you've ever worked with dyneema line, you know that regular scissors (even sharp ones) won't cut it. I bought these scissors to cut thin (up to 1/4") dyneema line, and they do the job well. I have a larger and more expensive pair of scissors to cut thicker dyneema line.

I keep this for rope work. One day, we snagged a crab pot and the line holding the float fouled the rudder. Dove on it to see what can be done, but it was a tangled mess and had to get cut free. These scissors cut the poly line like a hot knife thru soft butter.

While I had the lanyard I attached to it around my wrist, the wave action and loose rope had the lanyard slip off my wrist. I watched it float away never to be seen.

I refused to go any further without it so ordered 2 to the nearest locker. One is once again at my desk with a better lanyard and the other in a drawer, vacuum sealed, waiting for the inevitable day it will be needed.

Don’t leave dock without it!

I always wanted to buy something that can cut through dyneema since I'm doing lots of splicing. Decided to give these a try since they're pretty cheap (compared to others, more well-known brand). Well, they do work super well. Can't say how long they'll stay sharp, but so far, it's great

These scissors worked like magic to cut a large piece of heavy Kevlar I had purchased. When I purchased the material, the vendor had said they could pre-cut it into smaller pieces for me, but when I received it, it was a single large piece. I tried everything from regular scissors to ceramic blades to a box cutter, but nothing worked very well. I bought these in desperation, and I was astonished at how easily they cut it! It was almost like cutting a piece of paper with normal scissors. If you need to cut Kevlar, I highly recommend these scissors.
