There used to be an amazing camera store in the neighborhood, Keeble and Schuchat. They carried Billingham camera bags. I shopped there for over 40 years and always thought these bags were ridiculously expensive. Then the camera store closed. Then I bought a Leica Q. After purchasing the Leica the Billinghame (Digital) didn't seem so ridiculous and I treated the camera to a nice suit.
I love the bag. It's handsome, sturdy, waterproof, and fits the camera well with some room to spare. I like not having velcro fasteners. It only has one main compartment and a front thin pocket for accessories.
I wrote to Billingham suggesting they put a handle on the top of the case so it can be picked up easily with a hand. They put them on other bags. I haven't gotten a reply. I also suggested that they add an i.d. window so the camera and bag has at least a chance of being returned if lost or left behind. I think maybe a brass zipper on the accessory pocket would be another nice touch. The snap that it has does not guarantee something won't fall out.
I really like the camera bag and really like using it. Highly recommended even though it's highly expensive. I also like the fact that the bag is made in England and looks like a lot of pride went into making it.
I bought this bag to carry my Pen EP-3 kit but immediately gave to my wife. Why? It looks exactly like a woman's purse: petite, attractive in a conservative and understated way. It would be at home in the window of Coach or other high end purse shops. The same leather accents and fabric look handsome in messenger bag size but shout woman's purse in this rendition. The dividers were great for the EP-3 kit but, if you want to carry a DSLR, out they come. Her Canon 60D and 17-85 USM fill it up completely when toploaded with lens pointing down, but isn't so tight as to make it difficult to extract (she uses a CamAdapter with hand strap). My 7D/15-85 USM will squeeze in but are too tight for comfort. So ideal for a woman toting a smaller DSLR like a Rebel or 60D/70D and medium or small zoom. The ample front pocket has plenty of room for lipstick, a few SDHC cards and her iPhone. There is no room for any additional lenses or shoe flash. And, yes, she loved it and immediately tossed her funky Lowenpro in the closet.
The inside is extremely soft and well padded and there are no exposed velcro or rough material to scratch your gear. I gave it 4 stars because it's overpriced but the quality and stylish design make it almost worth it. Not a bag for hiking or beach but just the ticket for a night on the town.
Excellent, well made bag. Suitable for a 'Prosumer' sized DSLR/mirrorless with a 24-70mm sized lens attached. Get the Small Hadley or Hadley if you want to carry additional lenses. Alternatively use of the clip on end pockets for modest sized extra lenses/flashes.
We bought this bag for our Leica SL system. This bag doesn’t look big but it’s perfect for one SL2 body and two full-size lens. Good quality with details. The style is classic. Love it.
