1st let me say this speaker as a whole is incredible and u get what you pay for.
The good.
Top of the line Highs (3 tweeters) Top of the line Bass for its size. Treble is excellent. Voices are also incredible. Very good sound separation.
Out of the box the bass is boosted so if u like bass you would love it. The Bass is crisp tight and powerful.
The speaker seems to be aimed at pop, rock, hip hop type of music and it sounds absolutely mesmerizing on those type of music. It does sound incredible on everything but better on the mentioned above.
The Speaker looks very elegant. The top brushed aluminum knob is very simple and useful, solid build no cheap stuff here. If u spin it increases and decreases volume and if u push it pause and resume.
What can be improved in my opinion.
I like to listen to Deep house dance techno type of music. And very unfortunately the mids of the speaker are not pronounced as much as the highs and lows. The mids sound like a flat line as if they are overpowered by the lows and the highs. Whit that said it don't mean its bad its just not as good for that type of music. The Sound Stage on the speaker is a tad small but u can overcome this easy by increasing volume.
If u let this speaker stand on a table or counter or anything and you turn the volume up the bass will start rattling the speaker. And the reason for that is because there are 3 small legs on the bottom of the speaker which cant absorb all that bass. My solution to this was a rubber pad. In the moment I put a rubber pad under the speaker all the rattling was gone.
The software setup was hard. The apps are buggy it works on iPhone but on my android apps wont detect. But the Beta app detected on android and I was able to update the software. The thing is this review is about a speaker and how it sounds not about their software.
I don't like how the power button and aux jack is under the speaker so you have to grab the whole thing if u want to turn it on and off.
My conclusion is that this thing sounds incredible for how small it is. The Bass so good and satisfying, just having a very good lows on any music is very very important and that is where this speaker shines the most. The Highs are also very very good and the only weak link and i mean not really weak just not as good are the mids, but when u have good mids and incredible lows and highs pretty much everything sounds incredible.
I was skeptical at 1st because I had B&O in my Audi and while sounded good it didn't impress me, it sounded kind of like a bose car system it was weak on bass and didn't sounded very natural. But after hearing the B&O M5 I can assure you B&O got the lows where they have to be Great bass great lows.
(Addition as if 12/2/2018)
After a software Update now you can expand the sound stage on this speaker and adjust the tone of the music (AKA Equalizer) The speaker did had sorta of small sound stage but it was hardly noticeable especially when increase volume a bit. Now after the software update i can make the sound stage bigger and also make the music more detailed which equals to much better experience with trance/house and electronic music. This is a HUUUGE plus to already incredible speaker. For how small this thing is and the amount of sound that comes out of it as if u have portable home audio system .
If i could i would give this thing 6 stars. Bringing this little speaker w you on vacations or work or where ever, is like bringing your music without any compromises.
