If you are toying with the idea of purchasing the Sennheiser Urbanite XL headphones be aware that you will need to order a pair of these replacement pads with it. The original pads on the Urbanite start flaking and chunking off in a matter of days. My theory is that since these headphones are quite old and have been sitting on a warehouse shelf for years that the pads must have dried out. Thankfully, the replacement pads are holding up so far. I will update this review if that doesn't hold true.
The Urbanites seem to be tuned specifically for these pads. I tried alternative pad options and in both cases the sound was affected dramatically. Brainwavez pads diminished the bass to an almost non-existent level and Geekria lowered the bass but didn't completely remove it so I am keeping those as a backup. Only the Sennheiser pads seem to keep the bass at the proper levels.
These aren't super comfortable pads and I find myself switching back to my SHP9500s after a couple of hours of wearing them, but the headphones with these pads do sound great. Especially for Dance, EDM, and Rap music.
