Not good with Deity microphones

[UPDATE] I wrote a review of this adapter a few weeks ago after I was able to successfully connect/use a Deity V-Mic D3 Pro to my Tascam audio recorder using this Rode adapter. I needed this adapter to connect the V-Mic's 3.5mm output to an XLR cable. At first I thought the adapter was working great, but then after using it for a while I noticed weird hiccups, bumps and interference in my audio. So I tested it again in a quiet room, and sure enough, there it was. I then replaced this Rode XLR Adapter with Deity's own XLR adapter and it worked PERFECTLY. With the 3.5mm cable inserted and connected to XLR, I can twist/turn the Deity V-Mic's 3.5mm cable and there's no hum or static at all. I thought I could save a few bucks by purchasing this Rode adapter instead of the Deity version, but it looks like the latter is needed for their mics. Just wanted to post this review in case anyone else is looking to connect a Deity mic to XLR!

What can I say, it's built like a tank and works perfectly. If you're confused about what this thing is (like I kinda half was) then here's an explanation that I think might help:

So here's the skinny whizzle: your average microphone that uses a 3.5 mm jack needs power. If it doesn't use batteries, it gets this power from your camera or device through the 3.5mm cable. Phantom power is the same thing but for professional microphones and only through xlr cables. You can use phantom power for 3.5mm microphones, but you need to reduce it waaay down or else it will hurt your mic...also you can't put a 3.5mm plug into an xlr jack lol. This solves both those problems and essentially frees you up to use whatever audio gear you want without worry about a whole lot of annoying compatibility. If you need it, you know; if you don't, you'd think it's stupid. It's a very niche application, but it's a life saver for that niche.

This is the adapter you need to connect a microphone that needs a DC bias voltage into an XLR input -- for example, connecting a 3.5mm microphone or headset to a pre-amplifier.

I used this adapter to connect my 3.5mm headset to my pre-amplifier. Other adapters may fit, but won't provide the DC bias voltage required to operate the microphone. The microphone inside of my headset is an M-55 electret microphone.

If you're looking to create a similar setup: connect your 3.5mm microphone to this VXLR adapter. Plug the adapter into the XLR input on your pre-amplifier and turn on 48V phantom power. Then feed the output from the pre-amplifier to the 3.5mm line-in (blue) jack on your PC -- not the 3.5mm microphone (red) jack. If you want to feed the microphone to multiple devices simultaneously, use a 3.5mm splitter as needed.

All of the above description assumes 3.5mm TRS cables/connectors. TRS provides stereo audio output, and can be discerned by looking at the male connector, which will have 3 "sections." If there are four "sections" or conductors, that is a TRRS cable, which provides stereo audio output along with microphone input. You will have to use a TRRS to 2x TRS splitter to split the audio output from the microphone input.

Poor noise floor, 1 of 2 ordered was unusable due to noise

I bought 2 of these and after troubleshooting my entire rig and front end, turns out these are noisy AF. I need a solution on the sooner side, so I'm keeping the one, and returning the other for a replacement because one of them was just awful... Definitely defective. I may end up returning both eventually if they prove to fail/introduce this level of noise over the next 30 days. Need to find another solution for converting phantom power to lavalier plug-in power. Frustrating waste of time. If you're not picky about your noise floor, these work... That's the best I can say. I've never owned a Rode mic, and some their connectivity products offer some clever solutions... With the caveat of being pro-sumer grade quality at best. It has eroded my confidence in ever buying a Rode mic, that's for sure.

Works great. I use this adapter to connect Sennheiser ME2/ JMic J044/ Aspenmic HQ-SE to XLR cable then to mixpre6. The recorder provides only 48v phantom power so these adapters step down the voltage for those lav mics.
I also tried to save a few bucks and ordered the Movo adapter. That one only works if you partially plug the mic in so they won't lock down with the locking screw. These Rode adapters work fine and lock down securely.

The belt clip on the Rode VXLR+ works great to hold xlr to talent. In use for stationary interview recording. You will have to remove belt clip if you are plugging adapter straight into the recorder.

I also read on some of these reviews that the adapters don't lock. Well they lock just fine. The locking mechanism on XLR connectors is on the female side, not the male. So the cable or recorder should have the lock with the press tab. If it doesn't, it's not the adapters flaw.
