Worth the $18!

I have a lot of foot problems and pain, and it's surprising how even socks can make a difference. I am in love with 'Balega' socks, but my feet do get sweaty and eventually smelly after a day at work or the gym. I'm a size 5 1/2 and purchased a small, they fit perfectly. I thought, I'm insane for spending $18 on SOCKS!, what if I lose one? After many wears and washes, these are totally WORTH IT. My feet are significantly less sweaty, they do not slide down (very similar to Balega), and because of less sweat there is hardly any odor. I only have the one pair for now, and only pull them out on special occasions (long flights, super hot days, days where I know I'll have to take me shoes off after wearing them for a while). I love these and will be putting savings away to hopefully one day have 7 pairs of super expensive $18 socks.

I have worn smartwool socks for many years. This type (mine is the low quarter) is my favorite. I have nerve problems in my feet, so I am very particular what I wear. Nothing scratchy etc. These socks have a light cushion in the front bottom and under the heel, with a tighter section (not too tight) around the arch to help support it. They last forever! I can walk with them on without shoes or with my shoes. Summer or winter/spring or fall. Wool is so durable and adjusts for the temps. My feet are always cold, but these keep them warm. Obviously I can't say enough about these and any other Smartwool sock...

Thick socks & are not low profile. I will never buy again!

These socks are hardly as described...they are not light and are not ‘no show!’ The enclosed photos evidence 4 various pairs I already own. The socks I just acquired are pale in comparison to my previous pairs. I own numerous pairs of each. Why can’t you just continue to manufacture the proven results of previous runs? In order of preference the grey pair are fab! The 2 pair of tan (orange/black + blue) are great. I also like the white w/ blue tips, but they are heavier.

Quality Is Not the Same As Previous SmartWool Socks

I have purchased several pairs of the SmartWool Light Micro in the past and the latest batch does not have the same durability as my previous pairs. I purchased three pairs of these socks 8 months ago and every single sock is pilling on the heels and wearing thin. For a premium (and expensive) product, I expect them to last more than 8 months without problems.

In the provided photos, I am comparing the 8 month old sock to a 3 year old SmartWool sock I purchased in 2015. The 8 month old sock is grey/blue and has significant pilling on the heel. The 3 year old sock is grey/orange with no piling. I wear both the 8 month old socks and the 3 year old socks once a week to work in a corporate office. I am disappointed with my latest batch of SmartWool socks and would not recommend them based on the durability issues.

I wear these 100% merino wool socks all year, every day. I have many pairs. They keep me warm in the winter and breathe in the summer. They are not bulky. When walking, they don't slip into my shoes. They don't itch. My feet are kept the perfect temperature and do not feel clammy from sweat. They are very much worth the price compared to the performance of other socks I've tried. I wear a 9-9.5 women's shoe and use the medium-sized sock. My husband bought me a size L last year and they are just too big. I can wear the L, but there is too much bulk to fit some of my shoes. The medium are perfect! P.S. I hang them to dry rather than use the dryer.
