Working very well with iMac Pro - update DIED today!

I use this drive for video editing in Premiere Pro, both 1080HD and 4k video files. I picked this model based on my experience with Lacie products and the speed of this drive. I'm 4 and a half months in and it's been solid. I would buy this drive again. A lot of bang for the buck.

Update Feb. 2019
The RAID would not power on today. Spoke with tech support and they are sending a new enclosure. There's a good chance that the drives won't be recognized by the new raid controller and will want to initialize my drives, which would erase all the files. I'll find out Monday when it arrives. In the meantime my system is down as far as finishing my project.

Died quickly, unable to get a replacement

The AC adapter burned out within 30 minutes of first turning on. I spoke with Lacie Tech Support, who was very quick to respond, but they were unable to replace either the just AC adapter or send me a completely new unit. They didn't have any in stock, apparently. Lacie suggested I buy (out of pocket) another adapter in the meantime, which I did. That didn't work either, so now we're guessing the drive unit is bad too. Even after all this Lacie was unable to send me a replacement.

All that said, when the drive was functional for those brief minutes, having two displays connected through it to my 2017 MacBook Pro by one cable was really quite nice. I'm planning to buy another one once the return is finished. I've used Lacie drives for years and this is my first bad apple, so I'm not too worried. Still, it's been a hassle.

Unhappy customer

Died after 2.5 months of use

I like LaCie drives. I have purchased several including 3 different raid drives over the years. I Purchased the LaCie 2Big Dock 20TB Raid Thunderbolt3 drive on May 29. Today is August 14 and the drive is dead. When it was working, it was a good drive. No complaints.
I spent over an our with LaCie tech support to no avail. They are going to send me a new enclosure. They say the drives should be fine. Unfortunately, they have no idea when they will be able to send the enclosure to me as they do not have any to send. So, I am left with a very expensive brick.
I don't think I will be purchasing anymore LaCie drives.

Windows users beware beware beware

Setup was very *very* far from plug and play on my 2017 Spectre X360. (1) Following instructions to the letter, the unit never lit up or powered on (2) In order to see the power light, I had to plug it into the second Thunderbolt port (not the one displayed in instructions) and it still didn't work (3) downloaded a special Windows driver from LaCie, still didn't work. (4) updated BIOS and two other applets. (5) ultimately I got the array to be seen, but LaCie instructions didn't explain how to format it - so even once you see the device, you have to fire up an exotic part of the old Windows control panel (\Administrative tools\Computer Management\storage and format the thing) (6) after all this, the RAID 0 transfer speed is far less than anything I have seen shown in any of the reviews, approx. 100-250 MB/s - though this could be a factor of file size) (7) now I have a working array, and it looks like the front SD and CF connectors will work. (8) Displayport output - nothing I have tried has worked, this may be Mac only thing, so don't buy this unit hoping for a quick fix to display issues (9) power delivery appears insufficient to keep the laptop running faster than the power drain. All in all, this may be a lovely hard drive array, but I think it promises far more than it delivers for Windows users. Recommend a close comparision with the WD My Book Duo, which is not Thunderbolt, but which was essentially plug and play on Windows 10 and still offers decent speed. WD 20TB My Book Duo Desktop RAID External Hard Drive - USB 3.1 - WDBFBE0200JBK-NESN I will update this review if I can get the video output to work.

Quality TB3 HDD AND Dock Combined... Well Worth The Price!

I usually wait a year or so before writing a review, but this has been excellent with my 2017 MBP. The speeds with TB3 are excellent, and I don't need to buy an expensive docking station, as it has BOTH DisplayPort and USB C ports to support external displays (as well as 2x TB3 ports for Daisy-Chaining).

I actually did buy a $300 dock (which I have this daisy chained to), and never use the dock as this has everything I need.... and if I used a lot of USB 3.0 devices, I'd just get a much cheaper USB 3.0 hub to plug into this.

In terms of the storage, this is my 3rd LaCie external drive. It has professional grade, fast, Seagate Barracuda drives in it, and my two others have been trucking' for years. There's nothing worse than losing your data, and I've found LaCie to be top quality and use top quality drives/components to last for years to come.

There were issues with previous models (TB2) that would disconnect if the machine went to sleep. This has been rectified with this TB3 dock/external enclosure... computer goes to sleep and so does the drive, and wakes like a charm. And, can definitely notice the speed difference between TB2 and TB3.
