Nope, It basically has a knob and the more u turn it, the more it cuts off sound based on vibration from the strings.
If you turn it all the way to the right, absolutely no sound expect amp hiss comes through like static white noise.
If you quarter turn it starting from the left, it cuts out feedback, but not amp hiss, it also kills your guitars sustain so basically can't hold a note for very long while using it, without doing some vibrato, because it will just kill the sound, but not in the good way, because the amp hiss is there, so there is still lots of noise, just not some of the noise....
In short, it's not worth buying if you want silence from the hiss and feedback, if you want sustain at all, and if you want your money's worth.
I picked this up off amazon on a whim, and it blew my mind. It took me a while to get the settings where I wanted, but once I did it was so worth it. I hope I can provide some helpful tips on how to get the most for it.
I primarily play psychedelic/jam band style music, and this delay has a quirky character to it that I can't really explain. It sounds super vintage, almost scratchy like a vinyl, not just compared to digital delays, but to other analog ones as well. I keep it on virtually all the time because it adds so much dimension to your sound. When combined with some decent reverb on a bright clean tone, it makes me think of Jeff Buckley.
With some light Boss super overdrive and a Qtron filter, it sounds like Jerry Garcia.
If you're looking for a cookie cutter delay effect, look elsewhere. I've found the pedal works best when used subtly for a snappy slapback and particularly when a compressor is run somewhere on the chain before it to even it out.
Also worth mentioning that although I'm praising it's gritty sound, when combined with chorus it sounds like poop. It can't be all things I guess. I also think the delay loses its character when there's too much drive.
Still 5 stars because it's dope.
TLDR: It's gritty, it's vintage, it does one thing and it does it super well. Best used subtly, not as easy to dial as more expensive delays, but who cares, take the time to make it work.
The three delay modes all sound much more pleasing than the TC Electronics Flashback (v1) on my main board. The Koogo is noticeably less harsh than the Flashback, especially in reverse mode. It is much more pleasant to my ear because of it.
The Koogo Digital Delay also comes with a very useful feature. It's possible to store one setting by holding the switch down. Double tap the switch to get a red light and the pedal is locked into the stored settings. Double tap again to get a green light, and the pedal is back in "live" mode doing what the dials tell it to do. This makes it very easy to alternate the pedal between delay & reverse delay with a couple taps of the toes.
The stored setting does save when the device is not powered.
Negatives: The instruction manual is a single-sided sheet of folded up paper. I used a phone app to "scan" the meager directions into a pdf file. The language is not always very clear, but the simple controls thankfully compensate for that. You will need even an actual power supply that plugs into an electrical outlet, such as the ones offered by Donner or Snark.
The primary reason I'm giving this 5 stars is value for the money. Although it's not a high-end pedal, the sound and features are more than I expected at this price. It's a delight to use and to listen to. This pedal easily met and exceeded my hopes for it.
operation. Great price ! My only complaint is a little microphonic but overall a great addition to you pedal board !
