Best axe I own

When I got this axe it was very rough, I polished the blade on the sides to a mirror finish as well as the back of the butt. I took a blowtorch to the hickory handle for Aesthetics. I then bought Bees Wax and coated it both Head and handle. It’s impressive now. The beard allows you to do fine cutting tasks safely.. I can feather stick with it.

Received the Husqvarna Carpenters axe today. Well packaged and arrived a day earlier than expected, nice...
Just a quick overview, for the monies, its very nice, and it comes with a quality axe guard-sheath. While it comes with a very basic grind, I would have to say, most axes do and require a proper sharpening according to how you will use it. It comes with a course about 45 degree grind, which is ok if your just going to chop up some campfire wood, but, if you are going to use it for carving or carpentry wook, it will take a little filing and stoning to change the angle and sharpness. The edge does end up taking a good sharp edge for finer work. The handle of mine is straight and has appropriate grain alignment. The sheath is much better than expected and has a nice thick welt to protect the edge. My only complaint is that the cutting edge does not line up with the handle. That being said I have purchased more expensive axes that don't either. But, for an axe sold as a carpenters axe, it should perhaps line up better. But, for the moines, with some sharpening, its a really nice woodworking axe and an excellent value. I would buy again...

Great carpenter hatchet value

The Husqvarna 20” carpenter hatchet/axe is a great value. It came sharp enough to use out of the box…wrapped in bubble wrap with the nice leather cover protecting the blade. The hickory handle had grain that was pretty good…not perfect but good. I paid 69 bucks, not 179 for Gransfors Bruk, or 184 for Hults Bruk. That woulda Bruk my bank. The axe is light enough to use like a hatchet is well balanced. I did San off the handle a put a couple coats of boiled linseed oil on it. After the linseed oil soaked in, the axe was very nice to use. The only con… the poll was rounded and sorta lopsided. Looked ugly. Out came the mill bastard file and worked it down a little bit. The last photo is almost done. I still like the axe and would buy it again. I hope Husqvarna sees this and tweaks quality control a little. I recommend
