I purchased this item for laptop computer use in conjunction with broadcasting DJ music on-line. The design of my laptop computer only allows headset use via a 3.5mm connection making the choices for a quality headset limited.
Additionally I purchased a Beyerdynamic Custom Game headset for the same purpose.
The overall build of the Beyerdynamic vs. this particular Audio Technica headset is certainly more solid. The microphone "arm" of this Audio Technica requires a break in period to stay in place but once done works well. The Audio Technica's microphone is replaceable while the Beyerdynamic's is not. The cord of this Audio Technica has a troublesome tendency to tangle itself and thus shorten its length rather easily.
For me the sound quality is the most important attribute. The Audio Technica's overall listening and speaking sound quality is vastly superior to the Beyerdynamic Custom Game in this respect, however not nearly as good as the Audio Technica ATH-M50X (which has no microphone).
I do utilize a free software program called Equalizer APO 1.2.1 to alter the default sound of my laptop computer and customize it to my preferences relatively easily.
