These are my first real pair of binos. I got these as a surprise gift for my wife for our trip to the Everglades. Apparently there are lots of birds there lol. She like birds. Me, eh…not my bag so much. Compared to the gift shop binos at the national park, these are amazing.

The optics are razor sharp. They are as sharp as the pictures taken from my mirrorless camera lenses costing 8x as much. I was surprised at the clarity and sharpness. The first thought that ran through my head was I need to get a longer range pair but I snapped back to reality. The 8x28 is perfect. I think the next size up would have too much “shake” making it harder to zero in on the object. She would complain and I’d never hear the end of it. Ugh. These can “shake” a little but it’s not that noticeable, as others have mentioned. The distance is nice.

The controls and adjustability are top notch. It stays where you left it.

The size and weight is very manageable. It’s not too heavy so you can carry this around all day and it won’t hurt your neck.

It comes with a nice case that includes a shoulder strap for the case and a neck strap for the binos. Incidentally, the rubber eye cover loop is not broken, it is split by design. That is so you can remove the rubber cover and still have it attached to the neck strap on one side. Otherwise, it would be hard to use with the rubber cap attached to both sides of the neck strap.

What I didn’t like about it…
The rubber eye covers, the eye side, comes off rather easily when you put it in the case. The large side rubber cover also comes off too easily. I wish these snapped on or took a little more force to pull off.

The metal strap loops are too small. You can only slide a single flat strap through it. So any strap thicker than that won’t fit. I had purchased a OP/TECH strap thinking I could install it but I can’t. It’s wider so it’s more comfortable and usually the included straps are junk-but the included neck strap is okay.

All in all my experience with the first real pair of binos has been stellar. I’ve purchased a red dot sight from vortex previously and it has been great. Vortex as a company continues to impress me with these binos.

I had 8X good quality binoculars and they were lacking zoom and clarity at targets out past 100 yards. Needed to upgrade and didn’t know if I should go to 10X, 12X or 15X…quickly realized 10X wasn’t enough. 15X is too much for hand held sighting, need a tripod to focus at that zoom and didn’t want to be stuck having to use a tripod. These 12X are great at zooming out to easily see targets and shots at 100-125 yards with great clarity…exactly what I needed.

I really like these binoculars. I use them on hikes, primarily to see butterflies and birds. They focus closer than my last pair, which is very useful for butterflies. I love the case because it doesn't use any elastic straps, which means it will last 10 years+ instead of two years like harnesses that use elastic. I just cut the cover off the case so now it's just as quick to get the binoculars up to my eyes as my previous harness.

Exactly like other reviewers have said. The clarity is unbelievable and the focus knob is super smooth but what really gets me is the solid feeling they have in your hand. The 10x42 version is compact, solid, and screams quality. These are lifetime binos!!!

Compact size and great value

Excellent binoculars. I am an old Steiner fan from military experience and have a 8x30 and 10x42 sets. They are extremely good. But when Vortex broke on the market, I took note. The diamondback series are a great combination of cost and quality. I like the digpfferent quality ranges that they make. I have a pair of diamondback 10x42s. The exterior seems to be slightly less quality than my high end Steiners, but the lens quality is incredibly similar. So, I wanted a more compact set for hiking and tried these 8x32s. Extremely happy with them. I would highly recommend them, I don’t think the quality of materials is a significant enough difference. These 8x32s are also great for low light and field of view. The big surprise is the size. They are almost too short in length. For hunting or birding I would always go with a minimum of 10x42, but would feel like these were adequate in a pinch. Get ‘em, you won’t be sorry.
