If you're not particularly interested in PC technicals skip to the end for my TLDR. :)

So, I just got a new gigabit internet connection and wanted a new adapter for my PC (Ryzen 5 + B450 + Windows 10 current build) and so I bought this. There were no reviews on here but I generally trust Gigabyte as a brand so I bought this anyway.

First off, the product looks great (not that it matters - it goes inside a PC in a PCI-E slot) but I have a windowed LED lit gaming PC and this matches the color scheme of the PC's internals. Also should be noted that this is a Gigabyte PCI-E card with M.2 WiFi slot which seems to contain the new Intel AX200 WiFi chip but not entirely sure of that because I did not want to take the chip out of its slot. I set it up and installed the drivers and checked Windows' power settings for PCI-E and Networking both of which were set to Performance.

Ran an internet speed test at 4 ft (for testing with no objects in-between) from the router (AC1900 - 1200+600 with 7 antennas and 3x3 capability) and got results between 450Mbps and 491Mbps with about 4ms to 7ms latency based on antenna position and angle. For reference my iPhone at 10 ft from the router got 563Mbps and 3ms latency and gigabit Ethernet gets me about ~905Mbps and 2ms latency.

I then ran a local WiFi speed test and transferred a video file and it peaked at 430-ish Mbps.

Disappointed - was really hoping for this to compare to my phone/iPad at the very least if not 900Mbps and let alone the rated AC speed of 1.7+Gbps that it is supposed to deliver.

Lastly, I also just noticed that all the speed chart images from the product listing have been removed and there's very little information on the product specification and description as of writing this as opposed to multiple graphic charts of performance when I bought this a few days ago - take what you will from that.

I will test some more and see if I can get it to gain at least another 50% performance or will have to return it. Bummer.

TLDR: I have a gigabit internet connection and a fast router and fast PC but this performs slower than my iPhone which runs on a battery. I double checked Windows 10 settings and drivers and compared it to when directly hooked to the router by cable and was half the internet speed. I also did a WiFi local file transfer speed test and got similar slow results. Summary: only 25% of advertised performance.

I hope this helps someone else before they buy.

When I built my PC, I had opted for the non-Wi-Fi version of my motherboard to save some money to put toward other things for the build. I ran an Ethernet to it, and all was fine. That was, until I moved houses. With the way everything was set up, running Ethernet was like pulling teeth, so I broke down and bought a wifi adapter just so I could actually use my computer.

The first one was trash, just a USB adapter, because I had plans to EVENTUALLY get wired, but obviously that didn’t happen or I wouldn’t be writing this review.

With that adapter, I was getting no more than 200mb/s, when our internet plan should be giving us 400+. Add in the adapter losing any and all connection, often in the middle of games I had invested hours into competing in (causing me to waste and lose hours of progress since you get nothing if you disconnect) and it was time to upgrade.

Enter, this beast. It was easy to install, connected before I even had the drivers installed, and has been an absolute life-changer. I’m getting speeds akin to being wired, the connection is stable (even with 4 people in the house all doing things on various devices at the same time) and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve been able to run streams, talk on discord, and play online games at the same time without any hiccups or lag (where before, even trying to watch youtube while playing a game would cause my adapter to shut down and restart.)

I will update if I have any issues down the road, but so far, I am extremely happy with this choice. The speed capabilities are fantastic for the price, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend anyone get this card if they’re looking for options. I feel so much more relaxed just knowing I don’t have to worry about my connection dropping anymore.
