A solid controller if a bit small for larger handed folks

Overall it seemed to be fairly decent quality, however I did find the dpad on mine to be touchy. IE it would register clicks in directions I wasn't trying to do, such as pressing up would activate left or right at times etc. Also the Dpad in general may not be in a great place for some folks being more centered on the controller.

The analogue stick seemed fine, overly sensitive but unavoidable with current modern offerings.

Honestly if it hasn't been for the dpad quirkiness and the issue with it being a bit to small for my hands it would of been a keeper.

A decent alternative is one of the MODESLAB pads or other names it comes under (generic carried by multiple companies etc). It's a tad bigger (more comfortable for me anyway), overall analogue stick and buttons seem to be similar overall, dpad is in a better placement. If your willing to spend more I'd recommend the wireless version of the retro-bit tribute, but for wired the cheaper pads work as well even if not quite as high quality.

Haven't used many controllers but this is way better than my last one I can actually control link properly in Majora's mask all for 20 bucks nice

The Nintendo 64 is one of the most durable console systems out there. The same can't be said about their controllers. Especially the analog stick which gets worn out from normal use. Luckily, there are a few companies that make retro products such as controllers and Retro-Bit is one of those. The Tribute 64 is a solid controller and has excellent performance. All the buttons have a satisfying click to them, and they perform well with all the games. The analog stick performs great. It's a little more sensitive than the original controller, but it's an easy learning curve. The only problem I have is the D pad. It does work, but the location and the size of it makes it very difficult to use. Luckily, most of the games were meant for the analog stick, which this controller excels at. Overall, this is a great controller. And the price makes it one of the best values out there.

This is a fantastic alternative for the original controller. The main stick is much better than most replacements but still just a tad more sensitive than the original. Still, it feels fantastic to use and all the buttons feel good. The dpad could be better, as I find using the right and left buttons often triggers either the top or bottom as well, and vice versa. The only real issue I have is the decision to make the right trigger a Z duplicate rather than R. There is never a time I can think of where Z on the right trigger makes sense, and reaching for R is not very comfortable. Luckily, it is easy to open the controller and flip the pcb taking in button inputs. I just had to wedge a little piece of cardboard in the slot with it, as the normal config has a small notch to keep the board in place. While it was an easy fix, I think it should be in this config out of the box, or at least have a macro to swap the 2.

Very good Hori minipad alternative

I got this product as a backup for my Hori minipad controller. I have to say, for the price I am impressed. I speedrun Super Mario 64 and this controller is very decent for bowser throws. All of the buttons work and the stick is good. The build quality isn’t as good as a Hori minipad, and my only other complaint is the plug into the N64 is a little big - it gets stuck sometimes when plugging it in or removing it. But overall a great controller and would buy again.
