First off, I would like to say that I was very anxious to get these new earbuds from Bowers and Wilkins. Especially since when I am traveling, I would be able to use the case as a transmitter to listen to non-bluetooth sources of entertainment; airplane, my classic ipod, etc.
However, after using these for a few days, I was sorely disappointed in the product. I admit, the sound coming from these earbuds is incredible but connectivity is so poor, (using Galaxy Flip Z), that I am going back to using my Sennheiser Momentums for now. Frankly, for the price you would spend for these, they would be better with bluetooth connectivity. It took 18 times, (yes, I counted them), to connect to my phone and then they would drop the connection. Or they wouldn't auto-connect, etc.
To keep this short here are my pros and cons for these earbuds.
Pros:
1) The sound is incredible. No doubt about it. The nuances in the music, especially classical piano, do come through about as good as it can get from wireless.
2) Wireless charging case.
3) Case as a transmitter: I only used this capability once and it worked very well coming from my computer.
4) Fit is good. Not perfect but they do stay in the ear during some strenuous movements.
Cons:
1) The app is atrocious. I have to reload the app several times because of crashes. Sometimes it would not connect or when it did, it would not display the battery levels for one or both of the earbuds.
2) Connectivity is awful. These do not auto-connect like my Sennheisers do and these P17 do continuously drop out. I have conversations with others who have told me that the voice starts to fade away after a period of time.
3) No equalizer in the app. For the price, this should be something to consider.
4) The ANC could use a little work but they are not bad. If you are looking for great ANC, probably should stick with the BOSE.
I would like to say this, I am an earbud enthusiast. I have AirPod Pros, Sennheiser Momentum 2 (My favorite), Bose Quietcomforts, Technics, Jabras, etc. and the sound quality on the Bowers are really good. But the bluetooth and app aspects were just too frustrating for me to want to carry these and use them every day. Hopefully, Bowers and Wilkins will get some constructive feedback and update their firmware and app software to help with this problem.
