Excellent stable board

Updated the BIOS for the sake of enabling TPM 2.0 for Windows 11 compatibility. The BIOS update wiped out my settings and my saved profiles, so I’m having to redo my settings from scratch. Minus 1 star for that! FFS, ASUS!

Really happy with this board. I had a Gigabyte B560 that I wound up returning because it would either bootloop or fail to boot when trying to get my RAM to run at rated speed/timings (Crucial DDR4-3600). This board (so far, I have more testing to do) has been rock-solid and stable. Right now I’m at 3800MHz on the RAM, and am now going to try and tighten up my timings a bit.

Paired with an i5-11400 and a Hyper 212. Removing the TDP limits was very easy, basically automatic. I have to say, I kinda liked the BIOS a bit better on the Gigabyte. It’s not that the ASUS is bad by any means, it’s just laid out/organized a bit differently than I’m used to (haven’t ran an ASUS board in years and years). So it could just be me. I haven’t quite figured out how to manually tune the TDP settings, though, whereas it was totally straightforward on the Gigabyte (but then, the Gigabyte wouldn’t even boot with my RAM’s XMP profile loaded). Automatic TDP settings have been fine so far.

Plenty of USB ports, 2.5Gbps ethernet, USB-C, integrated WiFi 6, RAM overclocking, there’s just an absolute butt-ton of features and connectivity thrown at you for the price. I’m an AMD fanboy going all the way back to the Athlon XP era and I really wanted Zen 3, but the i5 11400 and B560 just represent such a killer value that I couldn’t resist. Intel finally managed to pull me away from team red years ago with the 2500K, and now they’ve got me again with the 11400.

Anyway sorry, this is supposed to be a motherboard review.

Nitpicks: typical, weak-sauce Realtek 897 audio codec. If you’re into audio, you’ll want a sound card or an external DAC. Only two case fan headers (and the placement isn’t the best). The Gigabyte board I returned had three. That’s about it so far. Maybe the BIOS layout, but I feel like that’s kinda subjective.

I've had very few builds where absolutely nothing gave me a problem. I populated it with the i9-10900f, RTX 3070, 32G of DDR4 Crucial RAM and a SKHynix SSD in a beQuite case and it fired right up. Flashed it with the newest BIOS on a cheap USB thumb drive and loaded Windows on another and I was up and running without a hitch. I wish it had another fan header but that was my only wish on the board layout. The BIOS is fairly straightforward to load optimal settings. I set the XMP profile for my RAM which took no effort and I let it run with the APE 2.0 settings which automatically changes the PL1, PL2 & Tau settings to increase performance (along with the heat dissipated, so plan for the correct cooler). Benchmarking the CPU under load it never breaks much north of 200W and then only for short-burst so it is transient in nature. Setting this all up takes no effort because Asus has already done it for you. One thing I'll say for Intel vs. AMD is that Intel systems are almost always more stable and mature than the AMD systems I bought in the past. I typically build the last generaation of components which is probably part of the reason for stable builds but after you have had to deal with teething issues on a new platform you will never want to repeat it. Good board for a reasonable price.... buy with confidence.

No need for a long review, some genius will have the time. At the $150 price point, you can't go wrong with all this board has to offer. Got it alongside the i5-11400 and have zero complaints.

I am not sure about this motherboard. It would not initially recognize my gtx960 video card which I took out of my old computer. Since the only other card I had was an old pny out of an old dell computer I checked everything else first then tried the pny. It actually recognized it and booted. After it booted I shut it down and installed the 960 which it recognized and things went well from then on until I bought a RTX3060 ti.
It wouldn't recognize the 3060 when I installed it and when I took it out and put the 960 back in it would not recognize it either. I pulled the 960 out and put it in several times to make sure it was seated good, shorted the bios, pulled the battery several times, tried the 3060 a couple of times and was getting so frustrated I was ready to scream when all of a sudden after taking out the battery and putting it back in the third or fourth time it booted the 960. I still have no idea why it booted that time but after I shut it down and installed the 3060 ti it booted it as well.
It has been working great since then. It would be nice if I knew what was done to get it working but I don't so though I am happy with the MB now I don't know whether to recommend it or not.
It has great features and really handles the voltage on the i5-11400f I have. It pushes the standard 2.6 GHz to between 4.3 to 4.4 GHz. Thing is if I buy another MB it probably will not be an ASUS. I have to admit I didn't contact their tech support so I can't comment on them or how they may have helped.

The board performs wonderful, I’ve built about 5 system using this board l, all are being used daily in couple of small businesses and also being used by my kids their PC gaming system, I’m very impressed with the quality and reliability especially at the current listed price $149, previously I used the B360M MSI Mortar which is an excellent board but the price went up from $104 to about $200 listed. I would recommend anyone wanting to build a system to give this board a try.
