Great controller, a little trial and error to set up

Great working product that is comfortable in the hands.
Like I saw in the comments before buying this controller I had a little frustration that required some trial and error to get it connected and playing on my switch. Just in case anyone needs help and reads this, here's how I got my controller working:
(You need a regular switch controller to set this one up)
You need to initially sync the wireless controller with your "Pro Wired Communication" setting on you switch OFF. Once your controller is synced, you can turn on/enable "pro Wired Communication". You then should be able to change grip/controller order to now use your Tribute64 controller.
When I started using my tribute controller to play N64 games on the switch, I couldn't use all of my C-buttons. Using the macros, hold down Start+A until the 1st and 3rd LED light at the base of your controller are lit, that should enable the use of all C-buttons.
Hope this might help someone. It's a great controller. Don't let some of these comments scare you, I would still reccomend this controller to anyone of my friends.

Great controller, some quality assurance issues

First, I a little about me so you understand my rating:
Input devices are important to me. Even though I emulate all of my older systems, I still prefer to have "the right tool for the job". That's why I own a raphnet N64 to USB adapter. That's why I own just about every 8bitdo clone peripheral released in the last few years. That's why I have bought both generations of the Xbox Elite Controller. Input devices are important to me.
Retro-Bit does not have a good reputation in my opinion. I've bought controllers from them in the past and found they were made with cheap plastics and flakey components, "3rd Party Controllers" to the bone. I was therefor skeptical when I saw they released a brand new hori-pad type N64 controller in the Tribute64. I saw no point in buying the wired variant since I already had a solution for using real N64 pads on my PC and didn't trust it'd be worth the sticker price. When the reviews for the original wired variant of this controller came in, I was convinced I'd made the right call when I heard about their flakey analog sticks and somewhat less than ideal construction. Maybe one day I'd buy a Hori Pad, I thought.
I am intimately familiar with the N64 controller. I have quite a few in excellent condition, I've personally lubed up their analog stick compartments to make sure they last me a long time. I've taken all of them apart to clean them thoroughly. I've messed around with the rubber domes, I've tried swapping out analog stick modules with new ones that claim to be better (they NEVER are!). I'm on the waitlist to buy a SteelStick64. So when Retro-Bit claimed to be paying special attention to the analog stick with their new Wireless version of the Tribute64, I was curious. Skeptical, but curious.
Then, the proof came out. Input curve diagrams. Game tests. I was shocked to hear maybe Retro-Bit hadn't messed this one up. Maybe a real competitor to 8bitdo in the premium 3rd party retro controller scene had finally emerged. So I ordered this thing, and here's what I found out... the first one I received was defective. The analog stick pot was misaligned with the gate, so that when you press forward on the control stick and get it into the top-most gate, the actual input is "forward-and-slightly-right". At first, I was ready to completely write this whole thing off. Just retro-bit being retro-bit again. More trash. At least the controller shell felt good t0his time, better than Nintendo's N64 controllers, truth be told, with nice, thick plastic. The rubber domes felt snappy, the rumble seemed to be on point... how sad that the analog stick spoils the whole thing. I really did *not* want to bother with an exchange, but curiosity got the best of me. When it came in, I tested the replacement for the "mis-alignment" issue I mentioned.
This stick is as close as you can get right now to perfect for this use case. They have gotten it really really close to true N64 ranges, with just a slight deadzone and a gate that is not exactly true to N64 original but close enough (the original was more narrow horizontally, this one has equal distance between all corners instead). It's not too sensitive, all the usual tricks in games work fine. I'm really shocked this is as good as it is because we've had absolute trash til now. I've heard good things about the Retro Fighters pad but this thing supports rumble and is wireless, plus the look and feel is very close to what you'd expect out of a Nintendo product, even better in some ways.
If I had one sticking point besides having received a defective product originally, it would be that you can't use the mode switch macros in N64 mode. I would have liked to switch R and ZR while playing with the N64 dongle, which I prefer to do even though I am using this on PC (using the aforementioned raphnet adapter). It's a minor gripe. I can see myself preferring this for N64 games going forward, I see no reason not to use it. It's wireless and I get rumble out of the deal, too, plus it feels great in the hand and I can have access to the d-pad and the L button without shifting my hand placement. This is an easy buy. Just don't be shy about getting a replacement if you have an quality issues with the unit you receive.
I hope Retro-Bit continues to produce quality controllers going forward and I suspect some of their other newer peripherals in their "platinum" collection are nearly as good. It seems as though they are turning over a new leaf.

When I got this controller I thought wow it’s the see through purple it reminds me of the N64 days.
I have the switch OLED and this controller works very well with it. You need to make sure your pro controller wired communication is on through the settings, plug in the USB drive to the docking station press and hold the communication button on the USB for 5 seconds press start and boom it works. The controls act to the game as if it’s a regular N64 controller which is awesome you can play all the games through the Nintendo 64 app on the switch and it acts like a regular N64 controller.
The only downside I find to this controller is you can’t use the controller when the system is off the dock. It has to be in the docking station and on the TV in order for it to work. I wish there was a way for you to use the controller while the system is off the docking station so I can continue on the go with the games. Maybe there is a way maybe there isn’t.
Overall great controller and feels great.

After reading all the comments and watching a YouTube video, I was about to make the controller work perfectly. I received the new 2.0 version
1. On your switch go to settings, controllers, enable wired pro controller
2. Plug in the dongle and hold the start button to connect the controller
3. I had to hold 'Start' and 'A' for five seconds to make all 4 'C' buttons work correctly
4. lose track of time playing Zelda OoT
