Kobo doesn't read kindle

I bought Kobo after good reviews. I'm not fond of Kindle (it's slow, filled with ads, doesn't always open what I buy on Amazon) but I already own100 books for it. Guess what? Kindle is incompatible with Kobo.

This is a market ready for a decent competitor :)

Update: Kobo customer service walked me through upgrading the firmware, and it works now.
So I changed my review to 4 stars.

As a reader, it’s fine.
But the notebook app doesn’t save the pages. When you switch to any other function, the pages you wrote are just gone, which makes it useless as a note taking tool.

Top of the Line E-Reader Great For College Students

I am on my final year in college and since I am very judicious with my technological use, this is the perfect hybrid between giving up technology completely to being saturated with the Internet. I can read and annotate pdfs, ebooks, and even accepts pictures as well. It's understandable why they package all together -- the stylus, ereader, and cover -- it's the total experience that makes it feel seamless.

I've seen this product getting a lot of flak on the other reviews here and i have to say i disagree with most of them. Granted, i may have experienced a more updated version (4.30.18838) than the others as i acquired the Elipsa recently and this update was pushed on November 1st 2021, so if you are experiencing issues, try with the new update.

To summarize, this is so much more than a e-ink reader. It is Android based so it has more tools and processing options than some of its competitors and with it's notebook integration, it's definitely an academic tool as well, but first things first:

- The Screen, in my experience was bright and dimmable to specific levels that i had not seen before. Easy to read and didn't reflect light as much as other i've tried.

- The Refresh Rate was pretty quick, i've seen other reviewers complaining about this and i wonder if they either have not used a e-ink device and they are comparing it to a LED display with a 120hz refresh rate or if the previous firmware versions were just bad. I found the refresh rate on this device in line, or even slightly faster than some of its competitors.

- The compatibility with eBooks is unparalleled. It'll take epubs, pdfs, docs and of course anything from the official store, you have no limits on where you get your ebooks from and there are no restrictions, period.

- You can listen to audiobooks directly from the Elipsa or using bluetooth headphones.

- The notebook is just a new dimension on a e-Reader. This thing will do math, online searches, wikipedia, graphs and so much more, everything is exportable to dropbox.

-Battery life isn't a concern, it's a huge screen, but it's e-ink, will last a long time between charges, i've been using it daily and it's still on its initial charge.

- I liked the sleepcover, protects the screen and puts the Elipsa to sleep to extend its battery life. Looks elegant and its protective.

It is hard to describe everything this does, but does it better than any of the predecessors i've tried, sure it has more potential with future updates but in my opinion, this is the best ereader you can get, and also that you can take to college or work to take notes and export them, it has plenty of tools to make your life easier, give it a try.
