WOW! I love my new Orion!
I was not sure what to expect since there were only 2 reviews on Amazon. One from a verified purchaser giving it a 5 star rating and the other from an unverified purchaser with a 2 star review. I figured I would take the chance because Amazon will give you your money back if you don't like it.
I LOVE IT!
My Nintendo Switch is great, but some games are just better on the TV because I cannot read the words or see differences in some icons on the Switch's small screen. I never realized how small the Switch screen was until I bought the Orion.
The price seemed a bit high to me before I bought it, but now I think it is a bargain. The 11.6" screen seems bigger than it is, and I can never go back to the tiny screen on my Switch. Here is why I think it is a bargain.
1. Orion has an IPS panel, and the color is great. The reviewer that said it was not IPS was not telling the truth. While it was hard to find on the box, it says so in the specs on the bottom of the box (hint make it more visible). I have used TN panels for years and it was pretty obvious to me by the great color that this was an IPS even if I hadn't seen it on the box.
2. The Orion has an HDMI input for laptops or other game consoles. I tried it out with my laptop and it worked great. I didn't take the ergo grips off, so it looked a bit funny but it would look pretty normal as a portable monitor without them. It even worked with just HDMI power from my laptop and no battery pack.
3. The Orion is super light. Not anything like I expected. Even with my Switch inside and my battery pack attached, it was light. Maybe all together 2 pounds but I didn't weigh it.
I do wish it had come with a short USB cable, but I ordered some from Amazon. I got 3 short cables for $9 with almost 5,000 reviews.
So I give it 5 stars, but I hope they put a USB cable in it someday. Maybe they could offer a battery pack and some kind of case as well.
