This Dock is Awesome if you know what you're doing

This Dock is awesome and works fantastically. Now, if you use cheap crappy old faulty HDMI cables, or/and cheap crappy Thunderbolt cables, and do not know how to update firmware, then this dock will give you a hell of of time. It will cause monitors to flicker and turn off unexpecting. Now, on the contrary, if you use proper normal HDMI and Display Cables, including upgrading the firmware of the dock and use good quality known working USB-c and thunderbolt cable all will be well. Awesome Dock, love it. With that said I do have 25 years of IT experience.

Great Dock Option for Legion 7

I’m using this dock with a Legion 7i Gen6 (11800H w/ 3070). Be aware, I bought this dock knowing full well it is NOT officially supported by Lenovo. I had read on several forums that it would work if you modified the power cable by removing a small piece of plastic that prevents the cable from fully seating inside the laptop power port. Bingo. Worked like a charm. Laptop is charging through the docking station.

One other problem people mentioned that was the gsync wouldn’t work over the TB dock. I’m happy to mention this fully works and is supported. Currently using on a 1440p monitor with GSYNC enabled. One note, remember to disable hybrid mode before heading over to the nvidia control panel to verify gsync. Gsync won’t work with the intel GPU enabled.

Only small issue I can see is the battery does begin to drain even while connected to the dock if you are planning to do long gaming sessions. My laptop was at 100% and after 2+ hours of gaming I was down to 80%. Just means the power supply can’t quite keep up with the demand so the battery helps supplement power.

Other than that, all seems to be working. I have 2x 1440p monitors connected, multiple peripherals, a USB3 hub, and etc. Everything seems to be working. Didn’t have to install any drivers either, plug and play!

Too Many Issues for the Price!

I got this for my P15 Gen 2 as I was told by Lenovo support it was the only way to support three 4k screens. While technically true, you are limited to providing that via 1x USB-C, 1x HDMI, and 1x Displayport. I was already using the Displayport input on one of my screens so I couldn't use it. I ended up using the HDMI port on the laptop itself, and it had HORRIBLE feedback to the Audio Output on the dock. I tried the USB-C from the laptop and it also had horrible feedback. This is particularly odd since I had issues getting audio from the audio output, in several apps I was unable to select it as the output device (most notably Teams, which is bad since this is my work laptop). The deal breaker for me though is how bad the video outputs are. I am constantly fighting with them to get my screens to be detected! I bought the dock to make my life easier, and it had done the exact opposite. VERY disappointed considering the cost of this thing! I have seen enough comments about this dock that I should have known better than to buy it. That's on me. The fact that Lenovo is still selling it, and not addressing the issue, that's on them.
I ended up using the 2x USB-C and 1x HDMI on the laptop for my displays. THe biggest issue for me is unplugging the thing when I travel, but the biggest hassle is the power, so I just invested in a smaller travel charger and saved money.

DO NO BUY!
